For information on the wide variety of services we offer, you may scroll down to read about all of our services, or you can click on one of the links to learn about a specific service.
Patient Care Line
One number - (303) 699 - 6200 - is all you need to make an appointment or contact our staff at any of our office locations. Our centralized Patient Care Line is open at 7:30 a.m. Monday - Saturday. If your child is sick, we recommend that you call as soon as you realize you may need an appointment. If you are calling for a well care or consultation visit, please consider calling us later in the day when the phones are less busy. Please remember that our office and phone lines are closed between noon and 1 p.m., although our answering service and on-call physician are available over the lunch hour to handle any urgent calls. When calling our Patient Care Line, you will be asked to select one of the following options:
back to top Emergencies
If you have a life threatening emergency, dial 911. For other urgent health needs during business hours, select option 9 on our Patient Care Line to reach our emergency and physician line. When medically appropriate, our triage department can schedule an immediate urgent visit for special circumstances such as respiratory distress, lacerations, injuries and other urgent needs.
Please do not select our emergency and physician line for non-urgent calls. Callers who select this line for non-urgent calls will be transferred to our Patient Care Line.
back to top Nurse Advice Line
Our registered nurses are available during business hours to answer questions or discuss concerns regarding your child's health. They use nationally recognized pediatric protocols to give medical advice and can recommend whether an appointment is necessary, or if some home care advice might be a better option. Through our electronic medical records, our nurses have immediate access to your child's medical record in order to provide the most up to date advice. If you would like to speak to one of our nurses, call our Patient Care Line and select Option #2.
back to top After Hours Services
We know that access to medical care 24 hours a day is essential for families. Many after hours questions can be answered by visiting the "Is Your Child Sick?" page of our website, which provides pediatric home care advice for over 100 common illnesses and injuries. We recommend you check our website first whenever you have a question regarding home care advice or wonder if your child should be seen. If you need additional assistance after normal business hours, our physicians work with The Children's Hospital After Hours Service. To reach our after hours service, please call our Patient Care Line at 303-699-6200. Our answering service will take your name, phone number and other important information and have one of the registered nurses at The Children's Hospital return your call as soon as possible. These nurses will help evaluate the situation and make recommendations for medical care. When medically appropriate, these nurses will forward messages to our on call physician. Please note that our on call physician does not handle prescription refill requests, which may be made online or by leaving a message on our prescription refill line at 720-870-0244. Prescription refill requests are normally handled withing 2 business days. When practical, we recommend the following facilities for urgent care after hours:

back to top 24 Hour Pediatric Health Advice on this Website
In addition to general information about our practice, our website provides valuable pediatric health care advice. The "Is Your Child Sick?" section provides home care advice and over the counter medicine dosages for many of the most common childhood illnesses. This feature provides an immediate educational resource for parents to access at any time of the day or night. Also, our Pediatric Health Library includes a wide variety of information and resources on topics ranging from Newborn Care to Mental Health.
back to top Messages / Call Back
We strive to provide the best in customer care and want any questions or concerns to be attended to in a timely manner. Our message and call back policy is designed to respond appropriately to phone messages, while allowing our providers to give the focused care patients need during office visits. Our providers work closely with our registered nurses and encourage parents to contact our nurse advice line first for any health-related issues. Our message and call back guidelines are as follows:
- To leave a non-urgent message for a provider, call our Patient Care Line at 303-699-6200 and choose Option #1. A care coordinator will send the provider a message if he/she is in the office that day or can send the message to another provider. Please note that it may be 24-48 hours before non-urgent messages are returned.
- If your child is sick or your message requires a more urgent follow-up, your call will be transferred to our nurse advice line. Our nurses will assess your child's illness using nationally-recognized pediatric protocols and discuss recommendations with you. If medically appropriate, they will consult with one of our providers.
- If you are calling because your child's symptoms have not improved you will be asked to schedule a follow-up appointment with a health care provider so that we may examine your child and reassess the situation.
back to top Lab / X-Ray Results
It is our goal to call patients with lab and x-ray results as soon as possible. If we have been unable to reach you or if you have additional questions, please feel welcome to call our lab/x-ray line (303-699-6200, option #5) to leave a message for a return call.
back to top Expectant Parent Visits
We provide free "Meet the Doctor" visits to expectant families who are new to our practice or expecting their first baby. This offers expectant parents the opportunity to meet one of our physicians and learn more about our practice. Please call our Patient Care Line at 303-699-6200 to schedule a prenatal visit. For more information relating to preparing for a new baby, see the Newborn and Baby Care page of our website.
back to top Immunizations
We firmly believe in the immunization policies and recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control, and believe it is in the very best interest of all children to receive these immunizations on the recommended schedule. Parents who have questions or concerns about vaccines or the immunization schedule must schedule a separate immunization consultation appointment with one of our providers.
We participate in the State of Colorado's Immunization Registry, which ensures that each patient's immunization history is part of the State's data base. All immunization data is automatically transferred to the registry unless the parent "opts out" of participating. This service provides our patients ready and rapid access to their immunization information. For more information regarding immunizations, visit the Well Care/Immunizations page of our website.
back to top Lead Testing
Advanced Pediatrics does routine blood lead level testing at all 12 and 24 month well child care visits. In addition, we can provide blood lead level testing at other ages if a parent is concerned about their child and possible exposure to lead.
back to top Lactation Counseling
Advanced Pediatrics offers lactation counseling appointments at our Aurora and Parker offices (Centennial patients may be seen at either of our other office locations). In most cases, appointments with our lactation counselor are made by referral from one of our providers. However, nursing mothers with breastfeeding questions may also make an appointment with our lactation counselor by calling 720-974-7171. For more information regarding our lactation counseling, see the Newborn and Baby Care page of our website.
back to top Adolescent / Gynecological Services
Our adolescent program offers important services for teen-age patients. Our providers strive to be a trusted resource for teens and their families, and welcome the opportunity to help during these sometimes challenging years. While we offer the opportunity for confidential services to teens, we continue to strongly encourage open and ongoing communication between adolescents and their parents. For more information, visit the Adolescent Health page of our website.

Asthma Registry
Advanced Pediatrics is participating in an asthma registry project with Colorado Pediatric Partners. The registry project will help provide asthma patients with optimal treatment plans, better parent and patient education, and a reduction in acute visits and trips to the emergency department. If you are interested in having your child considered for inclusion in the registry, please speak with one of our triage nurses. For more information, see the Asthma page of our website.
back to top ADHD
If your child has been diagnosed with ADHD or you are concerned that your child might have ADHD, please contact our referrals/ADHD department to request an evaluation with one of our providers. As a first step, we will request parent and teacher questionnaires be completed. These questionnaires can be mailed or faxed to you, or you may pick them up in one of our offices. Once they have been completed and returned to your child's home office, the provider will review the documentation. After review, one of our referrals/ADHD specialists will gladly schedule an initial evaluation or 6-month follow-up based on your child's needs. To contact the referrals/ADHD department, please call 720-974-7188. For more information relating to ADHD, see the ADHD page of our website.
back to top Mental Health
After an initial consultation to discuss the issues your child is dealing with, our providers will make a recommendation to either treat your child within our practice or refer him or her to a qualified specialist that can provide the best counseling and treatment. As with all specialist referrals, our providers will stay in communication with the specialists to provide for quality coordination of care for your child. If you would like to schedule a consultation with one of our providers to evaluate an emotional issue your child is facing, please call our Patient Care Line to make an appointment with one of our care coordinators. If you are ever concerned that the emotional issues your child is facing are severe enough to risk suicide or injury to self or others, please seek immediate medical attention at an emergency facility (we recommend The Children's Hospital whenever possible) or call 911. For more information, see the Mental Health page of our website.
back to top Referrals to Specialists
As your child's primary health care provider, we attempt to provide the majority of health care needs in our office. In those cases where we believe a specialist is required, an appropriate referral will be made. Advanced Pediatrics has a referrals department that works in conjunction with our providers to coordinate referrals to specialists when medically appropriate. Once the our provider orders a referral, the Referrals Department will contact your insurance and request authorization. When your insurance replies, we will call you with the authorization and the specialist's information. This process normally takes 4-5 business days. For emergency referrals, most insurances respond within 24 hours. To contact the referrals department, please call 720-974-7188.
back to top Hospitals
Our physicians are on staff for newborn care at Medical Center of Aurora, Parker Adventist Hospital, and Sky Ridge Medical Center. Additionally, our providers are on staff at The Children's Hospital. Patients who are hospitalized at The Children's Hospital or another hospital are followed by the hospital team or specialists directing their inpatient care. Our physicians keep in close communication with the hospital team and are ready to provide outpatient follow-up upon discharge from the hospital.

Prescription Refills
We recommend that most refill requests be directed to your pharmacy. If necessary, they will contact our office for approval. If there are no refills left on your child's prescription, you may request a refill online by visiting our Online Forms/Payments page or by calling our automated refill line at 720-870-0244. Because most refills require a review of the patient's medical records, we require 48 hours to process refills. Please note that prescriptions for controlled substances such as Ritalin or Adderall cannot be refilled by phone and require a written prescription that can be picked up at one of our offices.
back to top Forms and Records Requests
It is important for parents to keep up-to-date records of immunizations. We provide an immunization record that can be updated with each new immunization. Please remember to bring this record to each well care visit so that we can keep it current for you. Parents may request a copy of their child's immunization or medical records online by visiting the Online Forms/Payments page of our website, or by calling our medical records department at 303-699-6200, Option 6.
If you need forms completed for school, camp or sports, we normally require 48 hours for processing. Please note that most sports or camp forms require an up to date well care exam. Parents may pick up the completed forms at our office or can provide a self-addressed stamped envelope if they would like forms to be mailed.
back to top Online Services
For your convenience, Advanced Pediatrics offers the following online services: bill payment, new patient registration, prescription refill requests, and immunization record requests. These online services may be accessed by visiting the Online Forms & Payments page of our website. In addition, parents may register online to receive our quarterly newsletter, Hand in Hand News, as well as occasional pediatric health reminders via e-mail.
back to top Electronic Medical Records
Advanced Pediatrics uses an Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) to provide instant access to patient records and ensure continuity of care. Our EMR allows our providers and nurses to access patient records from each of our office locations, resulting in better patient care, improved clinical and administrative efficiencies, and enhanced patient education. In addition, our EMR allows instant transfer of prescriptions directly to a patient's pharmacy during office visits, so that prescriptions are ready to pick up following the visit. Medical records may be submitted to our Medical Records Department by faxing to 303-766-6903.

back to top Confidentiality
Our privacy policy states that we will share or release health information to the following persons associated with your family without special authorization: Parents, Step-Parents, Foster Parents, Grandparents, or a Day Care Provider. This policy was initiated to reflect the fact that these people often share in the child care arrangements of many families. If you do not want us to share information as noted, please let us know. In each of these cases, we will ask you to complete a form for our records. The privacy policy of Advanced Pediatric Associates is compliant with federal HIPPA regulations.
